Preface
¡Hola, guys! Happy to have you here.
I still remember that, during an interview, the HR once asked me whether anyony actually read my blog and how many views it had. Since I had connected it to Google Analytics, I was able to give her an answer. (I can tell you that it has received 4.1K view.)
At the time, I felt that this question implied that my blog (and the content I created) had little value if no one ever saw it. From one perspective, that my be ture: you could be creating a product that nobody wants. But there is another way to look at it. A blog is also a record of waht you have learned and what you have accompolished. You keep moving forward, learning on your own, and sharing what you love. Regardless of how many people view it, everything you put into it accumulates over time and helps you become better.
That’s why I’m writing this article now.
About Slowly
“Slowly” is an app for making penpals. I used it during my freshman year at university. It was a great way to meet people from around the world and an oppourtunity to exchange cultures and perspectives.
However, I stopped writing letters around my second year at university. The reason was that I felt I needed to devote more time to my profession, i.e. software engineering. After entering university, I realized that so many people were already ahead of me. So I decided to invest more time in accelerating my progress.
Now, after nearly three years, I’ve realized that I have somehow lost my way. Every day, I found myself working as if I were someone with no future, constantly struggling with everyday life. After finishing my latest job, I realized that I had lost touch with “me”.
I began thinking about what I had really enjoyed when I first entered university. That was when I I started using Slowly again.
This time, I have different goal, to make friends from the Spanish-speaking world and continue learning Spanish.
